This message provides information on Compton Unified School District's on-campus learning cohorts. Based on information from the LA County Department of Public Health, the district has determined that students will be able to return to voluntary on-campus Learning Cohorts and/or Learning Centers starting Tuesday, February 9th, due to declining cases of COVID-19 in LA County.

PRE-K STUDENTS

  • Pre-K students who were participating in an on-campus learning cohort with their teacher will continue attending in-person instruction.
  • Pre-K students who are currently participating in virtual-only learning will continue to participate in distance learning. However, if you would like for your child to join an in-person cohort on campus, please contact your school.

ELEMENTARY STUDENTS

  • Special Education students who were participating in the learning cohort with their teacher will continue attending in-person instruction.
  • Other students with acute academic needs (e.g. English Learners) will also continue attending in-person instruction with their teacher.
  • Students who are currently participating in virtual-only learning will continue to participate in distance learning. However, if you would like for your child to join an in-person cohort on campus, please contact your school.

MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

  • Special Education students who were participating in the learning cohorts with their teacher will continue attending in-person instruction.
  • Other students with acute academic needs (e.g. English Learners and other students in need of additional academic support) will continue attending in-person instruction with a qualified substitute in a Learning Center at the school. These students will connect with their regular classroom teachers virtually from their Learning Center.
  • Students who are currently participating in virtual-only learning will continue to participate in distance learning. However, if you would like for your student to join an on-campus cohort or Learning Center, please contact your school.

We are happy to be able to return to these in person models, as we know they provide a more effective learning environment for our students. The well-being of our students and staff are our priority, and we will continue following safety practices to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
